EMPD Speed Enforcement Unit officers arrested two men for speeding on the N3 highway in the north direction between Gillooly’s Interchange and Linksfield off-ramp on March 14.
Kobeli Mokheseng, EMPD spokesperson, said a 24-year-old man in a Toyota Corolla sedan was arrested at 7.30am for driving 182km/h over the speed limit of 120km/h.
“The man said he was rushing to work,” said Mokheseng.
A 31-year-old man in a white Audi A4 was also arrested at 8.10am for doing 163km/h on the same road.
Mokheseng said he gave no reason for speeding.
Both drivers were taken to the Bedfordview Police Station and charged with reckless and negligent driving.
“They are expected to appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon,” said Mokheseng.
