Woman (56) shot and KILLED in Bruma for handbag

Police have launched a manhunt for the gunmen who fled with her handbag containing cash and personal documents.

Police launched a manhunt for two men after a 56-year-old woman was shot and killed in Bruma at about 12noon.

Captain Mavela Masondo from Gauteng SAPS said the woman and a male driver were traveling on South Boulevard Road in a silver Toyota Prado when a white Toyota Corolla drove past their vehicle, stopped and then blocked their vehicle.

“Two armed men jumped out of the car and approached the woman who was sitting in the front passenger seat. They demanded the woman’s handbag. She resisting and the men fired a shot that hit the woman in the upper body. They took the handbag containing an undisclosed amount of cash and personal documents before they fled. The woman was certified dead on the scene,” said Masondo.

It is suspected that the victims were followed from the nearby shopping mall prior to the shooting.
