In the hope of expanding the number of learners at Pinocchio Educare Centre, Child Welfare SA – Edenvale and Bedfordview has invited parents to enrol the children at the centre.
Currently, the centre has just over 20 learners between its three and four-year-old class and its four to five-year-old class.
Chairperson of the welfare Pieter le Roux said the school no longer has a Grade R class but will re-open one depending on demand.
“We are not accepting Grade R learners due to unforeseen circumstances.”
“We hope to re-establish the class, but it depends on demand from the community.”
Pieter le Roux explained that Pinocchio Educare Centre caters for low-income households.
“Parents need to research where they send their children as there are a lot of unregistered preschools in the greater Edenvale area.”
“Our education centre has a structured syllabus, qualified teachers and a social and stimulating environment for learners.”
He said the centre provides a snack, a hot meal and a cool drink to its learners.
Pieter appealed to community members to come together to try and sponsor the school fees of a parent in need and educate a child.
“As a branch of Child Welfare we want learners to have a solid educational foundation and be prepared for life.”
