17-year-old arrested for unlicensed firearm

A 17-year-old male was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm in Johannesburg central.

The arrest took place on March 4, following information received by the Jeppe SAPS.

According to Jeppe SAPS spokesperson Capt Richard Munyayi, a group of suspicious men stood in different corners and a tip-off was given to the SAPS.

The police decided to follow and search for them.

Upon the search, a 17-year-old was found with unlicensed firearm with seven live rounds in the magazine and another seven live rounds inside his pocket.

He was charged and detained at the Jeppe SAPS.

He will appear in court soon as police investigations are continuing.
