Although the unit could not divulge how many vehicles were in its fleet, fleet manager WO Thapane Kgoale said the additional vehicles will assist the unit.

They will help the unit to continue working within an area which includes 23 police stations, including Bedfordview Police Station.

The vehicles will also be used for highway patrols on the N3, N12 and N17.

“The additional vehicles will allow us to have vehicles and officers on the road at all times,” said Kgoale.

“They will allow us to respond to call-outs and incidents quicker.”

Kgoale said the number of vehicles the unit received are good for the environment the flying squad works in.
