Between December 1 and January 5, 29 motorists were detained for driving under the influence of alcohol while one driver died in a collision.
The male motorist died on the evening of December 28.
“He lost control of his car and crashed into the wall at the corner of Elm Street and Beech Avenue,” said EMPD spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng.
The motorists arrested for driving under the infuence of alcohol were taken to Edenvale and Sebenza police stations respectively.
Mokheseng said during the festive season 326 traffic fines were issued to motorists in the greater Edenvale area who had violated the law.
