243 distinctions for Saheti class of 2019

The top learner at Saheti was Leonidas Kapoutsis, who achieved the highest average at 93%.

The Saheti School matric class of 2019 received 242 distinctions with 3.4 distinctions per learner in the IEB National Senior Certificate examinations.

Full-house distinctions were earned by no fewer than five learners, in nine and eight subjects, with average marks of over 90% in many cases.

Of the 71 learners, 30% achieved six or more distinctions.

“I wholeheartedly congratulate our students on their exceptional achievements, which are among Saheti’s best results to date. The matric class of 2019 upheld a culture of learning throughout their school career.

“They set goals and were inspired to enhance the school’s strong academic record. Bravo, Saheti,” said executive head Warwick Taylor.

The top learner at Saheti was Leonidas Kapoutsis, who achieved the highest average at 93% and a full house of nine distinctions in Afrikaans, English, information technology, life orientation, mathematics at 98%, modern Greek, physical sciences, visual arts and advanced programme mathematics.

He has been named an outstanding achiever by the IEB, ranking in the top 5% of IEB learners nationally in six or more subjects.

He was also ranked within the top 1% nationally in life orientation and mathematics.

Eleni Hajimarkos achieved the second highest average at 91% with nine distinctions in accounting, Afrikaans, English, life orientation, life sciences, mathematics at 96%, modern Greek, physical sciences and advanced programme mathematics.

Eleni has been named a commendable achiever by the IEB, ranking within the top 5% of IEB learners nationally in five or more subjects.

She was also ranked within the top 1% nationally in English and life orientation.

Christina Marinakos achieved an average of 89% with nine distinctions in Afrikaans, English, information technology, life orientation, life sciences, mathematics at 99%, modern Greek, physical sciences and advanced programme mathematics.

She was ranked within the top 1% nationally in mathematics.

Socrati Balassis achieved an average of 86% with nine distinctions in Afrikaans, English, history, information technology, life orientation, mathematics, modern Greek, physical sciences and advanced programme mathematics.

He was ranked within the top 1% nationally in English.

Erietta Ktena achieved an average of 90% with eight distinctions in English, geography, life orientation, life sciences, mathematics, modern Greek at 100%, physical sciences and advanced programme mathematics.

Erietta has been named an outstanding achiever by the IEB, ranking within the top 5% of IEB learners nationally in six or more subjects.

She was also ranked within the top 1% nationally in modern Greek.

Antonio Aristides achieved eight distinctions in Afrikaans, business studies, English, information technology, life orientation, mathematics, modern Greek and physical sciences.

Antonio ranked within the top 5% of IEB candidates nationally in five or more subjects.

He was also ranked within the top 1% nationally in English.

Nektarios Hajiyianni achieved eight distinctions in business studies, English, information technology, isiZulu, life orientation, mathematics, modern Greek and physical sciences.

Christiana Kassimatis achieved eight distinctions in accounting, Afrikaans, English, history, life orientation, mathematics, modern Greek and advanced programme mathematics.

She was ranked within the top 1% nationally in English and life orientation.

Markos Klapsinos achieved eight distinctions in business studies, English, information technology, life orientation, mathematics at 97%, modern Greek, physical sciences and advanced programme mathematics.

He was also ranked within the top 1% nationally in mathematics.

Costantinos Hagios achieved seven distinctions in Afrikaans, business studies, English, information technology, life orientation, mathematics and modern Greek.

He was ranked within the top 1% nationally in English.
