Top performers from Holy Rosary

The results of Independent Examinations Board (IEB) learners was released on January 7.

Like thousands of other learners Matric learners of 2019 from Holly Rosary High School recently paid a visit to school to collect their results.

The results of Independent Examinations Board (IEB) learners was released on January 7.

•The school’s top achiever Lauren Hutton had an average of 92 per cent and nine distinctions.

Subjects she received distinctions for included Afrikaans, English, geography, information technology, life orientation, mathematics, physical sciences, applied programming English and applied programming mathematics.

Lauren also placed in the top one percent of all IEB candidates in information technology (97 per cent), mathematics (100 per cent), physical Science and geography.

•Second to Lauren was Ziqi Zhao with an average of 89 per cent and eight distinctions.

Subjects she received distinctions for included accounting, English, information technology, life orientation, life sciences, mathematics, physical Sciences (93 per cent) and applied programming mathematics (94 per cent).

Ziqi placed in the top one percent of all IEB candidates in mathematics (98 per cent) and life sciences.

As a result of their marks Lauren and Ziqi were selected for the IEB Outstanding Achievement, placing in the top five per cent in six or more subjects and achieving a rating level of seven in life orientation.

Learners who achieved seven distinctions:

•Catherine Buffey obtained an average of 89 percent and was awarded seven distinctions.

Subjects Catherine received distinctions for included Afrikaans, consumer studies, English, life orientation, life sciences, mathematics, physical sciences

She placed in the top one percent of all IEB candidates for consumer studies and was selected for the IEB Commendable Achievement, placing in the top five per cent in five Subjects and achieved a rating level of seven in life orientation.

•Sianne Downes finished her matric year with an average of 88 per cent and seven distinctions.

Distinctions Sianne achieved were in Afrikaans, English, geography, life orientation, life sciences, mathematics and physical sciences.

She also placed in the top one percent of all IEB candidates for geography.

•Renata Romanini had an average of 87 percent and finished her school career off of seven distinctions.

Renata’s distinctions were for Afrikaans, English, history, life orientation, life sciences, mathematics and physical sciences.

•Jade Phillips finished 2019 off with an average of 86 per cent and seven distinctions.

Subjects she excelled in included English, History, life orientation, life sciences, mathematics, physical sciences and applied programming English.

Besides her seven distinctions jade placed in the top one percent of all IEB candidates for life sciences.

•Shelby van Popering concluded her matric year with an average of 85 per cent and seven distinctions.

Subjects she received distinctions in included Afrikaans, English, information technology, life orientation, life sciences, mathematics and physical sciences.

•With an average of 85 per cent Evagelia Nichas finished her high school career with seven distinctions.

Subjects she received disctinctions for included Afrikaans, English life orientation, life sciences, mathematics, physical sciences and visual arts.

• Anika Oosthuizen had an average mark of 84 per cent achieving seven distinctions for herself.

Subjects she achieved 80 per cent or more in included Afrikaans, English, Geography, life orientation, life sciences, mathematics and visual arts.

In addition to her seven distinctions Anika placed in the top one percent of all IEB candidates for geography.

•Vega Luppnow had an average of 82 percent and earned seven distinctions.

Subjects Vega achieved distinctions in included English, geography, life orientation, life sciences mathematics, physical sciences and applied programming English

Learners who achieved six distinctions:

•Francesca Wesson completed her matric year with an average of 83 per cent and six distinctions.

Subjects she obtained distinctions in included Afrikaans, English, history, life orientation, life sciences and mathematics.

•Arianna D’Alessio finished her last year of high school with an average of 83 per cent and six distinctions.

Subjects she achieved distinctions in included Afrikaans, consumer studies, English, history, life orientation and mathematics.
