221 distinctions for St Andrew’s matriculants

St Andrew's School for Girls matric learners received a total of 221 distinctions.

2019 marked the 31st year St Andrew’s School for Girls has received a 100% matric pass rate.

All of the learners qualified for tertiary studies and 99% of the learners achieved a bachelor’s degree pass.

The matric class also achieved a total of 221 distinctions and an average of 3.16 subject A’s per student.

19 out of the school’s 20 subjects offered were above the IEB average with 10 learners results in the top 1% in the relevant subjects.

Pearl Dumbu was one of the school’s top achievers with nine distinctions in English, Afrikaans, life orientation, mathematics, history, life sciences, physical sciences, advanced programme English and advanced programme mathematics.

Katherine Hodnett also attained nine distinctions in English, Afrikaans, life orientation, mathematics, accounting, history, life sciences, advanced programme English and advanced programme mathematics.

Jing Zhang was another learner who achieved nine distinctions in English, Afrikaans, life orientation, mathematics, accounting, geography, physical sciences, advanced programme mathematics and Mandarin.

Georgina Tregoning attained seven distinctions in English, Afrikaans, life orientation, dramatic arts, history, life sciences and advanced programme English.

Sarah Adank achieved seven distinctions in English, Afrikaans, life orientation, mathematics, accounting, music and physical sciences.

Seven distinctions were also achieved by Ashleigh Berry in English, Afrikaans, life orientation, mathematics, life sciences, physical sciences and visual arts.

Owethu Bukula received seven distinctions in English, IsiZulu, life orientation, mathematics, geography, history and physical sciences.

Maaike Hersov achieved seven distinctions in English, Afrikaans, life orientation, mathematics, history, life sciences and physical sciences.

Another learner to attained seven distinctions was Myung Sung Kim for English, Afrikaans, life orientation, mathematics, geography, history and advanced programme English.

Victoria Nel received seven distinctions in English, Afrikaans, life orientation, mathematics, dramatic arts, history and life sciences.

Zenani Radebe attained seven distinctions for English, IsiZulu, life orientation, dramatic arts, history, life sciences and advanced programme English.

Caitlin van der Berg received seven distinctions in English, Afrikaans, life orientation, mathematics, geography, life sciences and physical sciences.

Hannah Chappel led the list for learners who attained six distinctions in English, life orientation, mathematics, dramatic arts, history and advanced programme English.

Sunithi Mistry received six distinctions in English, Afrikaans, life orientation, mathematics, history and life sciences.

Five distinctions went to Yi Min Cai, Aaliyah Kolia, Clair Lombar, Sarah-Lee Surmon and Jade Teixeira.
