Writers lend a hand to Child Welfare

“This stationery will provide an enjoyable and constructive outlet for our energetic 50 to 60 children at centre.”

In December, Writers 2000 responded to Child Welfare SA – Edenvale and Bedfordview’s appeal in the NEWS for office and school stationery.

Members of the writing interest group contributed crayons, writing pads, finger paints and other creative stationery to Pinocchio Educare Centre in lieu of Christmas gifts to club members.

Office administrator for the centre, Jenny Kennedy, welcomed the gesture.

“This stationery will provide an enjoyable and constructive outlet for our energetic 50 to 60 children at the centre,” said Kennedy.

Pinocchio Educare Centre provides for children between the ages of three to six years, and caters for children in need.

The January meeting for Writers 2000 will include a workshop on romance writing to be presented by successful romance author Romy Sommer.

The speaker for the afternoon session will be Fabian Pillay who will take those attending through writing and earning from blogging.

Registration starts at 9.30am the day and will cost those interested R300 for non-members and R200 for members.

The workshop will be held at Inyoni Creek at the Tarentaal turnoff.
