"The purpose of the event is to unite people in the area."

Malvern Lights hosted a free market on December 1 where entrepreneurs were very pleased to be part of the event to showcase their offering.

The market is to boost entrepreneurs in the area who have started or been in businesses, and the aim is to give exposure to what they can offer the Malvern community.

One of the organisers in the committee, Muhammed Ismail, said the social event is to celebrate unity, especially with what Malvern experienced a few months ago.

“The purpose of the event is to unite people in the area. We cannot forget what the community has gone through with the September unrest, but we can forgive and try to support each other.”

Ismail said the main focus is to remind the people in the area that it is possible to stand up and bring peace among one another.

“All we want is to bring something fun, unique, relaxing and enjoyable for everyone. The pop-up market is for all the people who want to spend time with family and friends, who are looking for an outdoor fun activity. It is child-friendly,” Ismail said.

“We offer an experience where vendors and consumers can come and increase participation. The plan is to host the pop-up market monthly.”
