Dip on Boeing Road West becomes a flooding site

Ward 20 Clr Jill Humphreys has requested a budget from CoE to properly repair the drainage on Boeing Road West in Bedfordview.

With heavy rains looming, Ward 20 Clr Jill Hmphreys calls for action on the drainage system on Boeing Road West dip at Gilloolys Farm where flooding has already begun.

Humphreys said the area has been an issue for years and has reported it to the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) numerous times.

“The combination of the camber of the road and the drainage chambers that have sunk and are still blocked need to be lifted and realigned,” said Humphreys.

She said the rain creates a lake on the road every time it rains.

The flooding has been affecting motorists on Boeing Road West.

“This is a hugely busy road and cannot be left in this condition,” said Humphreys.

She has requested a budget from CoE to properly repair the drainage on the site.

“With the rains now becoming unpredictably stormy and expected downpours, these low-lying areas need urgent attention.

“We are going to have cars floating away into Gilloolys dam,” said Humphreys.

Request for comment was sent to CoE on December 5 at 2pm.
