Update: Joburg residents will have to wait until December to know who will lead City of Joburg as executive mayor. Today’s council sitting was postponed to December 4 and 5.
Mike Moriarty, the DA Gauteng Provincial chairperson said Joburg speaker Clr Vasco da Gama postponed today’s election to seek a legal opinion on the council’s voting procedures.
The DA fielded Funzela Ngobeni, the Economic Freedom Fighters nominated Musa Novela and the ANC nominated Geoff Makhubo.
The total votes needed to win a majority is 136.
