Balwin Properties, with suppliers and supporters, have targeted a record-breaking donation of R2.5-million to 30 charities by the end of their Charity Walk this year.

This year marks the 12th anniversary of the hat walk in Johannesburg on December 1.

Cape Town will see its sixth walk on November 24 and KwaZulu-Natal will have their second walk on November 17.

Last year, 4 000 people attended the walks and just over R2.1-m was handed out to a total of 19 charities.

Some of the charities from Johannesburg are Little Eden Society, Bedfordview and Germiston SPCA, Thembalami, Endangered Wildlife Trust, Abraham Kriel, Abused and Abandoned Kids, Adorabull, Alexandra Education Committee, Cotlands, Manger Care Centre, SOS Children’s Village, Theo Jackson Fund and Woodrock Animal Rescue.

The Johannesburg walk takes place in Jeppe Quondam once again, like the previous year.

Previous year at the Balwin Charity Hat Walk with Russel Rodwell, Chris Campbell, Julius Koen, Barry Waldeck, Adrienne Bass and Johan du Plessis with Rand Aid driver Jacob Bahumi in the front.

The theme this year is Recycling and Going Green.

Walkers are encouraged to wear Christmas hats made out of recycled materials.

The best hat and best-dressed dog in each region will be rewarded with prizes.

After the walk, a jumping castle for children and a selection of food, cooldrinks, coffee vendors as well as charity stalls will be available.

Donations to the charity walk are welcome as well.

Buying the themed charity walk T-shirt will serve as entry to the walk.

Adults will pay R100 and children will pay R50, dogs will be free.
