Sebenza SAPS is looking for three men in connection with four hijackings and robberies

Sebenza SAPS is looking for three men in connection with four hijackings and common robberies that took place in Croydon, Kempton Park and Cresslawn.

The station’s communications officer, Sgt Sharon Tsotsotso, said the modus operandi is to request online transport services and the culprits then rob the drivers of their valuables and car.

“Four cars they are suspected to have stolen were recovered in Tembisa and Phomolong Section, but no arrests have been made,” said Tsotsotso.

Anyone with information regarding the suspects can contact Const Florah Mokgobu on 011 400 6000.

To prevent being a victim of crime:

1. Avoid stopping in remote places.

2. Park your vehicle in places that are well lit.

3. If a stranger wants to talk to you while in your vehicle, do not open the window wide, only 5 cm is enough to have a discussion.

4. If something seems suspicious, do not talk to strangers, rather be rude and drive away.

5. If approached by a stranger while in your car, drive off if possible or press your hooter to attract attention.

6. Do not reach for your purse or valuables. Leave everything behind if forced from the car.

7. Do not resist, especially if the thief has a weapon. Your life is more valuable than your possessions.

8. Give up your vehicle with no questions asked and move away.

9. A gear lock is an affordable and very effective anti-theft device.
