Yeoville SAPS arrests three for murder

The suspects are between the ages of 25 and 28.

Yeoville SAPS arrested three suspects in connection with a murder on October 25 at about 5am.

“Officers responded to a report about a man lying on the pavement at the corner of Raleigh and Fortesquare streets at about 2am,” said Yeoville SAPS spokesperson Capt Sifiso Mabizela.

Mabizela said the man had a gunshot wound to the head. He was certified dead by paramedics.

“According to witnesses, the deceased was known to the three suspects, who were later arrested. It was reported that there was an argument with one of the three before the shooting.

“Officers followed up on information about their whereabouts. It led them to a guest house on Dunbar Street in Bellevue where officers swiftly made the arrests. A firearm suspected to have been used for the murder was also recovered,” said Mabizela.

The suspects are between the ages of 25 and 28.

They appeared in court on October 28 on several charges, including murder, unlawful possession of a firearm and defeating the ends of justice.

Yeoville SAPS station commander Col Happy Xaba said the arrests were one of many the station will make during the station’s festive operation of removal of lawlessness.

“This arrests were just the beginning. More arrests will be made leading up to the festive season. I would like to applaud the members for a job well done and also appreciate the members of the community who helped the police in finding the suspects,” Xaba said.
