Edenglen learner to compete in third round of eisteddfod

Throughout the year Vivienne has excelled in her performances.

A Grade Eight learner from Edenglen High School, Vivienne Claassens, is set to represent the school at a national eisteddfod next year.

She was selected after competing in the Greater Ekurhuleni Eisteddfod in the middle of October.

To proceed to the third round Vivienne needed to achieve 90 per cent for all of her items.

Her results included:

• 90 per cent for Afrikaans own choice poetry.

• 90 per cent for English dramatised own choice poetry.

• 93 per cent for Afrikaans monologue.

• 91 per cent for English monologue.

Throughout the year Vivienne has excelled in her performances.

In the first round of the eisteddfod she achieved 85 per cent and 91 per cent for her Afrikaans and English own choice poetry.

Earlier this year Vivienne was named best actress for her role as Kayla, a rape victim, when the school houses performed their plays.

On October 12 Vivienne took on the role as the prompter in the school’s mini production, 3 2 1 Action!.

Before taking up eisteddfod at Edenglen Vivienne had already started when she was a Grade Five learner at Hurlyvale Primary School.

She studied drama for four years at Edenvale-based Helen O’Grady Drama Academy.
