Jubilee beef auction benefits Little Eden

Little Eden was announced as the beneficiary of the beef auction.

Charlmar Beef celebrated its 50th jubilee last week with a beef auction.

Little Eden’s Bapsfontein farm is a neighbour to the Charlmar Beef farm, and, as such, has gathered support from their neighbour since 2009 through weekly meat deliveries.

The celebration, held on Thursday, was no exception when Little Eden was announced as the beneficiary of the beef auction.

Pat Wethmar, co-founder of Charlmar Beef, talks about the history of the farm.

Pat Wethmar, the wife of the late co-founder, Wimpie Wethmar, told guests that the farm started as an idea when she first met Wimpie more than 50 years ago.

When the two embarked on their business, it started as a small prefab building on the vast farm.

Guests eagerly await the start of the charity beef auction.

Today, it has grown into a fully functioning beef farm, supplying high-quality meat to some of South Africa’s top restaurants and shops.

The beef auction saw a total of 45 lots auctioned off, with the proceeds of four of those going to Little Eden.
