In this menu, Lova shared two variations, a beans curry bunny chow and beef curry bunny chow with carrot salad.

Beans and Potato Bunny Chow

Ingredients

Method

  1. Add oil to a pot.
  2. Add onions and cook until translucent.
  3. Then add tomatoes and cook until soft.
  4. Add chilli powder, mixed masala and potatoes and Aromat.
  5. Add ½ cup water and let the potatoes cook for 10 minutes, checking from time to time.
  6. Add water if necessary.
  7. Once potatoes are soft, add the beans and cook for five to seven minutes until done.
  8. Once cooked, fill the bean curry into the cavity of the bread.
  9. Add Coriander to garnish and put the cut-out bread on top.

Beef Curry Bunny Chow

Ingredients

Method

  1. Add oil to pot.
  2. Add onions and whole spices, cook until onions are translucent.
  3. Add tomatoes and cook until tomatoes are soft, add the sugar.
  4. Add the chilli powder, mixed masala and ginger and garlic.
  5. Fry for a minute then add beef and Aromat to taste.
  6. Turn stove down to medium heat and simmer for two minutes.
  7. Add ½ cup water and close lid and let beef cook.
  8. Keep checking the beef curry from time to time, beef will take 45 minutes to cook.
  9. Halfway through the cooking of the beef add the potatoes.
  10. Add a little more Aromat and let the beef curry cook.
  11. Keep adding water from time to time.
  12. Once cooked, fill the beef curry into the cavity of the bread.
  13. Add Coriander to garnish and put the cut-out bread on top.

Carrot Salad

Ingredients

Method

  1. Mix all of the ingredients together.
  2. Salad dressing: mix is ½ teaspoon vinegar, ½ teaspoon Aromat and 1 tablespoon of oil. Drizzle over salad and mix well.
  3. Price for beef bunny chow: R75 for four servings.
  4. Price for beans bunny chow: R25 for four servings.
  5. Total cost is R100 for eight people.
