A 29-year-old man from the Netherlands is behind bars at Edenvale Police Station after he was arrested for possession of an illicit substance this afternoon.
EMPD spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng said he was arrested after members of the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit found crystal meth, worth R5-million, in the man’s backpack

Mokheseng said officers stopped and searched a silver Kia sedan on the N3 North, between Linksfield on-ramp and Modderfontein off-ramp at about 1pm.

“They arrested the foreigh national when they found 1kg of wrapped crystal meth in his backpack.
“The team then searched the entire vehicle and found 24 wrapped crystal meth packets, stashed in a silver suitcase, on the rear passenger seat. The driver was also arrested and both were taken to Edenvale Police Station.

“The driver of the vehicle was later released. The foreign national is facing charges of possession and possible dealing in illicit substance,” said Mokheseng.
