LATEST: Edenvale resident shot by robbers who take off with R800

He was shot in his driveway on his return home from the bank.

A Sixth Avenue resident is in a stable condition after being shot during a robbery.

He was shot when two robbers, armed with guns, approached him in his driveway on his return home from the bank. It is believed he was followed home from the bank.

“They searched the victim and found R800 in his possession and took it,” said Edenvale SAPS spokesperson Sgt Jacob Mashile.

“The victim was shot when the robbers demanded he give them the money.”

Police believe their accomplice remained in their vehicle while the two robbed the victim.

Mashile said police were notified of the incident by a private security company.

“The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.”

“A case of armed robbery and attempted murder will be investigated by SAPS.”

Mashile urged community members not to resist when approached by robbers especially if they are threatened.
