#Water: Taps run dry in parts of Bedfordview while residents urged to use water sparingly

“If the situation does not improve today Rand Water might restrict water supply to improve the situation.“

A recent power outage resulted in a lack of water supplied to Signal Hill reservoir which supplies water to parts of Bedfordview.

Rand Water media relations manager, Justice Mohale, said a veld fire affected the 88KV power supply from Eskom’s Snowden Sub-station on September 18.

This affected the power supply to Rand Water’s Zuikerbosch Plant and Lethabo Pumping Stations leaving some residents’ taps dry.

Mohale highlighted that both of Rand Water’s main treatment plants were not pumping water.

“This has affected a number of our reservoir levels, the impact of which extends to today and possibly subsequent days, “ said Mohale.

He appealed to residents to use water sparingly until the reservoir levels recover.
