Upgrades start on Van Riebeeck Ave

"I am very pleased about the work. It was overdue as Edenvale is a main network town in CoE linking the N3, N12, R24 and Modderfontein Road."

Residents and motorists can look forward to an improved section of Van Riebeeck Avenue following the start of repair work by the City of Ekurhuleni.

The work which started on August 26 will see a section between Modderfontein Road and Tenth Street attended to.

Ward 19 Clr Bill Rundle said to minimise the interference with traffic, work was conducted at night.

He said work was meant to be completed by August 30.

“The top layers of the road were removed and milled down to be re-purposed for the road before it was re-tarred.”

Rundle said before the road was repaired it displayed signs of damage caused by the 2016 floods.

“Before the project, CoE conducted several pothole repairs and patching projects, but the traffic volume on the road has increased in the last three years.”

Rundle said the repair project was part of the CoE’s project to rehabilitate roads in Edenvale in Ward 18 and 19.
