Ntsakisi Legends using art to inspire others

"I use to draw for myself, but after sharing a few of my drawings people appreciated my work and encourage me to share it."

Artist Ntsakisi Floyd Mkhabele is passionate about using his talent to inspire others.

Known to his fans as Ntsakisi Legends, the Limpopo-born artist said he was inspired by friends and family to share his drawings.

Based in Malvern, Ntsakisi Legends specialises in pencil portraits.

“I love drawing because it brings happiness to others. I use to draw for myself, but after sharing a few of my drawings people appreciated my work and encourage me to share it,” he said.

Ntsakisi Legends said he started drawing at a young age, but never took it seriously.

“I was in primary school when I started drawing. I didn’t take it seriously until earlier this year. People started seeing my work and really encouraged me to pursue it,” said Ntsakisi Legends.

He said seeing how people responded to his work really made him think twice about sharing his talent.

“There’s no greatest regret than failing to utilise your talent. People liked my worked and wanted to share the beauty of my art,” said Ntsakisi Legends.

He said he looks up to artist like Young Creator and Ennock Mart.

“Art has a role to play in society – a drawing or painting can improve someone’s day just by looking at it or even change the feel of a room,” said Ntsakisi Legends.

He encouraged residents to support local artists.

“I love using my talent. I’m also a writer and poet. I’m a creative soul and through my work I’m able to inspire others,” said Ntsakisi Legends.

He launched a book called Escape from Rain Shadow last year.

The book is a self-help book that contains motivations and knowledge about life.

It works as private therapy to those who don’t like to talk about their problems.
