Man caught with R46 000 worth of drugs

A man was arrested for possession of R46 000 worth of drugs at a home in Welkom Street in Klopper Park during the evening of August 21.

Mokheseng said on their arrival the officers arrested a 30-year-old man after he was found in possession of five ziplock bags of crystal meth, two knotted plastic bags of crystal meth, eight knotted plastic bags with khat and two ziplock bags with khat to the value of R46 000.

“A total of R7 100 and $30 in cash was found, believed to be proceeds from his illicit drug trading,” said Mokheseng.

The drugs, money and items found on the man in Klopper Park.

He said a digital scale, a laptop, two cellphones and two plastic containers were also confiscated.

“Before receiving the information, Metro Police monitored the house for several days. The man was seen on foot and in a vehicle and also going in and out of the home in Welkom Road throughout the day and night,” said Mokheseng.

He said the DEU acted once the man was found selling drugs at the home in Klopper Park.

Mokheseng said the man was taken to the Bedfordview Police Station, where he was charged with possession and dealing in illicit substances.

He said the man was expected to appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon.
