Clothing drive inspires learners to be charitable

Berinato added that the learners displayed the clothes collected on the lawns of the school in the shape of the number "67".

Linksfield Primary School took part in the annual Mandela Day celebration by creating a clothing drive to celebrate the life of Nelson Mandela.

Nadia Berinato from Linksfield Primary School said the school asked each of its learners to bring an item of clothing from home to contribute to a clothing drive.

“The clothing will be given to underprivileged families and children, especially during these cold winter months.

The clothing gathered by the Linksfield Primary School learners were given to charities and church outreach programmes.

“This is an effort to teach learners to be charitable, to give back to their communities and to instill a culture of reaching out to those less fortunate,” said Berinato.

She said the project was a resounding success as the school collected hundreds of items of clothing, which have since been distributed among various charities and church outreach programmes.

Berinato added the learners displayed the clothes collected on the lawns of the school in the shape of the number “67”.

“Each learner understood the importance of being charitable, to support those less fortunate than themselves and to walk in the footsteps of Nelson Mandela,” said Berinato.
