Crawford Italia inspires others on Mandela Day

The foundation phase children made sandwiches with their teachers, while the music of Johnny Clegg played in the piazza.

Crawford Italia Preparatory celebrated 67 Minutes for Mandela Day with the support from parents.

The parents donated bread for sandwiches and clothing.

Grade Three learners Troy and Tyler making jam sandwiches for their friends at Denver Primary School.

Denver Primary School was the recipient of 550 sandwiches, with the help from the pre-primary learners who were supported by the older learners.

The sandwiches, as well as a generous donation of stationery from Bic, was handed out by the Grade Seven learners.

Grade Four and Five learners visited Casa Serena, a retirement home, where they delivered cupcakes to the residents.

The sandwiches had a Nelson Mandela quote to inspire the learners.

“These annual visits are genuinely appreciated by the elderly. It teaches our children to be mindful of the frail and aged,” said Petro Boers, Crawford Italia deputy principal.
