Community members and learners from Edenvale High School took to the field and went the distance on Mandela Day.
The running initiative organised by the school and Dowerglen runner Nuno Morais was held to allow people the opportunity to give back to charities of their choice.
Nuno ran to raise funds for an Edenvale High teacher’s wheelchair hoist.
Earlier this year, Nuno held a Winter Warm-up Drive on May 10 and 12 to collect donations for Khanyisa Trust.
In a previous interview, Nuno said he wanted to run for 67 hours.
When the NEWS caught up with Nuno on Mandela Day, he said the initiative was well supported.
He said community members made donations towards the wheelchair hoist or other charities.
Companies that supported the initiative included De Backery, Build it, Petrones Pizzeria and Paulies.
