A ransomware virus has hit City Power and has encrypted all their databases, applications and network. Johannesburg residents may not be able to buy electricity units, upload invoices when making payment or access the City Power webite. City Power shared a tweet on Thursday morning informing it’s customers and stakeholders about this.

Their ICT department is currently cleaning and rebuilding all impacted applications. Customers are urged to use citypower.mobi to log calls. Customers and stakeholders will be updated as and when new information becomes available.
