Carol’s family inspires most of her writing.

“My grandchildren are my greatest inspiration.”

For the longest time, the storyteller wrote humorous poems for her family and friends.

“When I started writing for my grandchildren, my friends and family persuaded me to publish.”

With a keen interest in the wildlife of South Africa, Carol aimed to teach her grandchildren about conservation, the love of animals and nature.

“I wanted them to enjoy wildlife and to look at the lighter side of life while realising the value of conservation.”

For Carol, literacy success comes from the expression on the faces of the many children who read her books.

“Seeing the happy faces of children reading or reciting my poems and being asked ‘When is the next book coming out?’, is what success looks like for me.”

Her advice to aspiring authors is to pursue their dreams.

“There is a lot of information from the Indie Authors Group on Facebook.”
