Hypnotherapy relaxes Thembalami

Hypnotherapy uses mild hypnosis to put you into a trance-like state where your body is totally relaxed, but your mind is active.

Thembalami Care Centre residents and staff members enjoyed hypnotherapy sessions recently.

The initiative formed part of a mental health awareness campaign ran by the centre’s occupational therapy department.

Occupational therapist Emily Raubenheimer invited hypnotherapist Elvis Ademba.

Elvis offered a few sessions to those interested in experiencing this form of healing.

Following the success of the visit, an information board on mental health and details of planned activities to promote mental health will be added throughout the month.

A care centre resident who participated in the exercise said: “Hypnotherapy made my hands, which are usually in pain, feel relaxed.”
