Criminals target water taps in Edenvale

"I would recommend replacing brass taps with plastic ones.”

Ward 18 Councillor Heather Hart urged community members to be vigilant of suspicious individuals in their neighbourhoods.

Her appeal comes after taps and water-related infrastructure belonging to the City of Ekurhuleni were taken.

Isandovale Reservoir was recently targeted which led to a large volume of water flowing from the reservoir. Infrastructure at Edenvale’s Water Polo Club was also targeted a few weeks later.

Exterior lights and the outside brass tap were taken.

Hart believes the trend of taps being stolen will continue until something is done about the matter.

“I would recommend replacing brass taps with plastic ones.”
