Scout James Bartlett from the First Bedfordview Scout Troop said the Scouts did especially well this year, coming in second place for raft mobility, eighth place for raft construction and 13th for raft overall.

James said the troop also came in 13th place for the campsite competition, leading to the troop’s 19th place in the Kon-tiki competition overall.

“The theme for Kon-tiki this year was Minions. We also had to make a fun place for the Cubs who were not participating in the competition so they could share in the fun. We had loads of fun and had an amazing experience and time at Kon–tiki,” said James.

The 17-year-old will be off to America to take part in the World Scout Jamboree on July 14.

“I would recommend Scouts to any boy who is 11 to 18 years of age and loves doing fun outdoor activities, even if you aren’t that much of an outdoor person.

“I would recommend you come and visit. You never know what you enjoy until you have tried it.

“And for those of you whom are younger than 11, try out Cubs, it is very similar to Scouts,” said James.
