Mandela Day Celebrations at Little Eden Society

"If you wish to bring a gift when you visit, may we suggest the biggest size towel nappies at Domitilla & Danny Hyams Home and adult disposable nappies (Sizes S/M/L/XL) at Elvira Rota Village."

In celebration of Mandela Day, Little Eden Society, based in Edenglen, invites community members to spend their 67 minutes with the society.

Community members can spend time at the society’s two homes with the society’s residents and give back to those in need on July 18.

Public relations and communications officer of the society Nichollette Muthige said visitors are more than welcome to bring gifts for the residents.

“If you wish to bring a gift when you visit, may we suggest the biggest size towel nappies at Domitilla & Danny Hyams Home and adult disposable nappies (sizes S/M/L/XL) at Elvira Rota Village.”

Activities that will take place at the Domitilla & Danny Hyams Home based in Edenglen include art and crafts with residents, cleaning/washing residents’ toys and playhouse, helping to sort clean laundry and general interaction with residents such as reading, puzzles, painting, playing ball, blowing bubbles, etc.

While those who will visit the Elvira Rota Village in Bapsfontein will enjoy collecting nuts with residents and will also repaint the chapel parking lot.

Visitors who wish to take part in this activity are urged to bring their own brushes and special road marking paint in white and yellow and to contact the society in advance.

The society will be open to visitors between 9am and 3pm.

The society’s Edenvale home is located on the corner of Harris Road and Wagenaar Street in Edenglen.

The society’s Bapsfontein home is located at consolidated stand 115 Elvira Rota Village.
