Flying Squad makes 11 arrests, recover stolen and hijacked vehicles

“The 11 suspects were arrested during routine crime prevention patrols.”

A total of 11 suspects were arrested by the Joburg Flying Squad between June 21 and 24 on various charges.

According to Joburg Flying Squad spokesperson Raymond Sambo, officers managed to recover five stolen vehicles and two others which had been hijacked.

Four unlicensed firearms and ammunition were also confiscated.

“The 11 suspects were arrested during routine crime prevention patrols.

“The arrests included shoplifting, reckless and negligent driving and common theft. Three suspects were arrested for vehicle theft and four were arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and one for possession of drugs,” said Sambo.

He said the firearms recovered included two Star Model BM 9mm pistols, a Norinco 9mm pistol and a 38-special revolver.

Sambo added that the vehicles recovered included two white Toyota Corollas, a blue Volkswagen Golf, a white Nissan Tida and a white Ford Ranger.

The hijacked vehicles recovered were a grey BMW 3 Series and a white Isuzu half ton truck.
