Hurlyvale give it their all in qualifying tournament

Despite their success during the tournament, Hurlyvale lost the final to King’s school.

Hurlyvale Primary School competed in Johannesburg Primary Schools Football Association’s (JPSFA) Danone Nations Cup qualifying tournament where the school placed second.

Hurlyvale’s u-12s were one of 20 teams which competed in the qualifiers at Sacred Heart College earlier this month.

The teams were going head to head to secure a place in the Danone Nations Cup provincial finals.

Leading up to the finals Hurleyvale beat Deutsche Internationale Schule while The King’s School Robin Hills beat Bryneven Primary School in the semi-finals.

Despite their success during the tournament, Hurlyvale lost the final to King’s school.

The final match didn’t start well for the King’s school when their goalkeeper suffered an injury in the first few minutes of the game and had to be taken off.

Once their goalkeeper was replaced King’s school went from strength to strength scoring the first goal of the match shortly after the injury.

Hurleyvale fought hard and managed to equalise halfway through the match.

From there both teams had their chances, but King’s school scored again ending the game 2-1 in their favour and progressing on to the provincial finals.
