1st Kengray takes second place at Kon Tiki

In addition to second place overall and in the raft competition, 1st Kengray also placed first in raft construction and raft pioneering and third in raft mobility.

Kensington’s 1st Kengray Scout Group returned home with two Kon Tiki trophies in hand on May 19.

The Scout Group participated in the largest annual scouting event in the country over the weekend of May 17 to May 19.

Troops from all over South Africa came together in support of the event, which was held at Arrowe Park in Benoni.

The main activity for the weekend involved Scouts building a raft from scratch on Friday afternoon through to Saturday morning.

The 1st Kengray Scout Group returned home with two Kon Tiki trophies in hand on May 19. The event started on May 17 and ended on May 19.

Six of the Scouts then had to spend Saturday night on the raft on the lake while other members of the group engaged in land-based activities that included cooking meals according to the theme, Minions.

The Scout Group meets at 385 Highland Road on Friday evenings.
