Modderfontein man (45) reported as missing by family, arrested for shoplifting in Edenvale

He was arrested in Edenvale on the same day he was reported missing.

A Modderfontein resident initially believed to be missing has been located and arrested for shoplifting in Edenvale.

The Thornhill Estate resident who was reported missing on May 10 was set to appear for his second court appearance in Edenvale Magistrate’s Court today, May 31.

Sebenza SAPS spokesperson Sgt Sharon Tsotsotso said the 45-year-old man was arrested in Edenvale on the same day he was reported missing.
She said his first court appearance was on May 13.

“The man was granted bail, but could not afford to pay it and as a result was remanded in custody,” said Tsotsotso.

Tsotsotso urged community members to allow the police to inform their family members if and when they are arrested.
She said when the police informed the man’s family of his arrest they were still under the impression that he was missing.
