Gadebe said that Gilooly’s Farm and CoE will benefit from new tenants.

The City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) is looking for tenants for the buildings in Gillooly’s Farm known as the Gillooly’s Farm Conference Centre and Mississippi Blues Restaurant.

CoE spokesperson Themba Gadebe said that the Real Estate Department is responsible for finding a tenant for the vacant buildings at Gillooly’s Farm.

“The appointment is subject to the supply-chain management process, which is currently underway. Tenants will be appointed as soon as the process is concluded,” said Gadebe.

He said that interested investors need to meet the conditions of the tender to be considered. These conditions will be tabled soon at the tender committees for consideration and approval.

Gadebe said that Gillooly’s Farm and CoE will benefit from new tenants.

“As long as the two buildings are vacant, their conditions will continuously deteriorate, which will negatively affect the park.

“The prospective tenants will have maintenance obligations.

“This means that properly managed and maintained buildings will improve the general condition of the park.

“The anticipated services to be provided by the tenants will be beneficial also to the members of the public visiting the park for leisure and other purposes,” said Gadebe.

In terms of the city, Gadebe said that Gillooly’s Farm is one of the strategic properties owned by the city.

He said that the property is surrounded by various affluent suburbs and situated adjacent to the N3 highway, used by multitudes of people on a daily basis.

Gadebe added that the city will benefit in terms of the anticipated revenue to be generated out of the leases. These lease agreements will enforce proper maintenance of the properties by the prospective lessees.

“The park will ultimately become a beautiful and fully functional facility to be enjoyed by the general public,” said Gadebe.

Gadebe added that council will advertise its intention to lease the properties through local newspapers, as part of its supply-chain management and bidding processes.

He said that prospective investors need to look in local newspapers for the advert.

Gadebe said that investors are welcome to check the progress of the bidding process at the Real Estate Department, Property Management Division, Edenvale Customer Care Centre, Room 309, Second Floor, on the corner of Hendrik Potgieter Street and Van Riebeeck Avenue.
