The appeal was made to assist community members to not fall victim to crime.

Bedfordview SAPS has appealed to the community to be more vigilant of their surroundings and be aware of what is happening around them.

Capt André de Jager, Bedfordview SAPS spokesperson, said the appeal was made to assist community members to not fall victim to crime.

Tips and advice de Jager provided included:

• To ensure gates and garages are locked at night.

• Instruct domestic workers and gardeners not to engage with unknown individuals.

• To report any suspicious behaviour and activity to the police.

• To join the Bedfordview Community Policing Forum which assists the police in fighting crime.

Report suspicious behaviour, activity or vehicles to the SAPS on 10111.
