Man gets six years behind bars for business burglary

“We applaud the investigating officer in the case for a job well done,”

A man was sentenced to six years behind bars after he was found guilty of business burglary by the Joburg Magistrate’s Court on March 13.

Quentin Pillay (35) was arrested on December 3, last year, after a security officer caught him breaking into a hair salon.

The security officer contacted the police, who arrested Pillay and detained him at the Cleveland Police Station.

“The security guard initially wrestled with the suspect but eventually managed to restrain him and called the police,” said Cleveland SAPS spokesperson Capt Johan Jordaan.

“The suspect was arrested and taken to the police station where he was charged with business burglary. The court also declared that the suspect is unfit to possess a firearm.”

Jordaan said this was a satisfying victory for his police station in the fight against crime.

“We applaud the investigating officer in the case for a job well done,” he said.
