Anna keeps busy organising tours and donating to charity

Anna has been a member of Bedfordview Association for the Elderly (BAE) since 1986.

Nothing good can come from idle hands and Bedfordview resident Anna Tindell, at 92, takes the saying seriously by keeping busy with tours and needlework for charity.

“I cannot just sit and wait to die,” said Anna.

Anna has been a member of Bedfordview Association for the Elderly (BAE) since 1986.

She runs the outings and tours for BAE.

It takes Anna up to a week to complete one blanket.

“I have always done tours, every August I would take my children overseas. Its been a life long passion,” said Anna.

For BAE, in the beginning, Anna would arrange eight tours a year.

She has been to Russia on the Siberian railway which she particularly enjoyed, and has walked along the Great Wall of China.

“I loved doing a tour of South America; I have also done amazing boat trips. I have even been to Alaska. I have been very privileged in my life,” said Anna.

Anna now does monthly tours with BAE, which can be complicated at her age, but her passion keeps her going.

Other than the tours, Anna has arranged a blanket drive with BAE, where she challenged the rest of the members to only knit squares and she put the rest of the blanket together herself.

The blankets are handed out to the needy before the beginning of winter.

The blankets will be donated to the needy.

“It takes me about a week to complete one blanket. I do crochet as well,” said Anna.

Anna said it costs about R200 to create one blanket, and BAE would be grateful for any donations of balls of wool.
