Edenvale’s Village Toastmasters Club started its annual public speaking competition season on a high note at the February meeting.

The competition was fierce in the English prepared, impromptu and evaluation speeches.

The impromptu contestants spoke on the topic ‘A Success Story’.

Contestants delivered created speeches, ranging from the success of being a member of Toastmasters to meeting a future spouse on an international flight.

The English prepared competition topics ranged from not allowing pride to get in the way to personal stories about Scouts and travelling internationally.

At the end of the competitions, Laurence Newman was the winner of the English prepared contest and David Preece won the impromptu and evaluation competitions.

The winners will go compete at the Area I4 contest which will be held on March 13 at Village Toastmasters.
