Amy Wallace off to SA chess champs

Amy started playing chess at the age of eight with her mother.

Jeppe High School for Girls Grade Nine learner Amy Wallace was selected to play at Chess Nationals for Ekurhuleni’s u-16A team and was awarded her Ekhurhuleni Colours Blazer.

The u-16A team played in the championship league and came fourth overall.

Amy started playing chess at the age of eight with her mother, who also coached her junior school team in Martin Primary. She has been selected to go to the South African Junior Chess Championship Closed (SAJCCC) which takes place on March 16-23.

The national teams for each age group will be chosen after this competition. Jeppe Girls staff and learners wish Amy good luck at the championship.
