Wedge Gardens treatment centre has a newly appointed occupational therapist and she is eager to combat addictions.

Paige Little joined the treatment centre at the beginning of the year.

Wedge Gardens treatment centre is a drug, alcohol and substance abuse rehab centre based in Edenvale.

Since joining the centre she has enjoyed exploring her passion for occupational therapy while working with all her patients.

Paige studied at the University of Witwatersrand and completed her bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy (OT) in December 2017.

She did her practicals at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, Othandweni Children’s Home, Rand Aid’s Elphin Lodge, Edenvale Hospital and even spent some time at Wedge Gardens too.

Paige Little strongly believes in the rehabilitation of addicts.

“Personal experience with addicts showed me the destruction addiction can cause.

“However, I believe there is so much more to a person.

“It’s important for addicts to find the good person behind the substance use – the one who has great potential to achieve many goals in their lives.

“Goals of success and not destruction,” said Paige.

Paige hopes society could see addicts in a different light.

She said addiction is bad but addicts are not bad.
