Scouts flock to the Vaal Dam

The Scouts were well-received by the sailing fraternity of the Vaal Dam and especially welcomed by Lake Deneys Yacht Club.

Scouts from Harmelia Gardens Air Scout Troop, Eastleigh and Third Kensington Sea Scout Troops took to the water when they attended the Round the Island Sailing Regatta.

The regatta, held on February 1 and 3, saw the scouts participate in 13 sailing boats across multiple classes, ranging from 10 foot (3.04m) dinghies to a 26 foot (7.92m) keelboat.

More than 50 Scouts participated, ranging from 11-years-old to 18-years-old, including girls and boys.

Scouts from the Harmelia Gardens Air Scout Troop, Eastleigh and Third Kensington Sea Scout Troops, who attended the Round the Island Sailing Regatta.

The Scouts were well-received by the sailing fraternity of the Vaal Dam and especially welcomed by Lake Deneys Yacht Club.

While at the event, Scouts enjoyed themselves by putting their sailing skills learnt through the Scouting movement tot he test.
