Bruce will always be remembered

"He was always the talk of the SPCA when people came to visit and his story has touched many people's lives."

Edenvale SPCA recently said goodbye to a beloved member of its family.

Bruce the Goose was put down on January 22 after an urgent visit to Harmelia Animal Hospital.

“After an examination, we were given the bad news and in plain terms,” said inspector Jade Nel.

“We were told Bruce was not a happy goose any more, he was losing weight and not able to move around as easily as he could.”

Nel said after being told this information the SPCA decided to end Bruce’s suffering.

She said Bruce had been with the SPCA for several years and despite having a damaged leg, he was always happy while swimming.

“He was always the talk of the SPCA when people came to visit and his story has touched many people’s lives.”

Although Bruce lived at the SPCA, he was virtually adopted by a community member.

Jade thanked the community member for all of their support in looking after Bruce.
