Edenvale SPCA to assist animals even further

“The clinic will allow us to take charge and provide greater care for the animals brought to us.”

With a new year comes new beginnings and with this in mind, the Edenvale SPCA has decided to start a new project on its property.

The SPCA hopes to have its very own medical clinic to allow it to provide basic medical treatment to the animals under its care and from the community.

The proposed clinic will make use of the SPCA’s current book shop while the bookshop will be moved and run out of a structure on the property.

Inspector Jade Nel said the clinic will allow the SPCA to inoculate animals, microchip animals, provide medication to animals, monitor animals and carry out basic medical treatment.

“The clinic will allow us to take charge and provide greater care for the animals brought to us,” said Jade.

The SPCA also hopes to renovate its second-hand shop and the 33-year-old kennels on the property.

Additionally, it hopes to create a communal cattery which will allow potential adopters to interact with the animals they would like to include in their lives.

Maritta Acar, manager of Edenvale SPCA, reminded residents that the SPCA offers boarding facilities for dogs throughout the year and not only in December.

She said the funds collected by boarding animals are used to cover running costs and maintenance on the property.
