JUST IN: Bedfordview SAPS searching for SIX armed suspects following attempted house robbery on Kloof

Police believe at least one handgun was used during the incident.

Police are on the hunt for six armed suspects after an attempted house robbery on Kloof Road earlier today.

Bedfordview SAPS spokesperson, Capt André de Jager, said police believe at least one handgun was used during the incident.

“The suspects allegedly assaulted a gardener working at the property and overpowered him but did not gain access into the house,” said de Jager.

He said during the incident a firearm was discharged and the suspects fled the scene.

“Police are investigating whether the weapon was fired by a suspect or by a civilian.”

Once the firearm was discharged the suspects fled the area in a bronze/gold coloured bakkie.

“We urge the community to be alert and aware of any suspicious behaviour.”

De Jager encouraged community members to contact the SAPS or their security company if they see suspicious behaviour.

“Do not interact with any suspicious person and do not try to be Rambo,” said de Jager.

De Jager said the scene has been cleared.
