Edenvale High looks out for new learners

The material presented at the training included discussion, role play and advice from previous big buddies willing to share their own experiences.

Edenvale High School’s ‘Big Buddy Programme’ training took place in the first week of December.

After a process of interviews, a group of the 2019 Grade 11s were selected to be ‘big buddies’ to the new Grade Eights at Edenvale High School.

The selected students undertook five days of training and discussion which focused on mentorship, ethical conduct, communication, confidentiality and crisis management.

The programme is led by Ms Padarath and Mrs Hartel.

The material presented at the training included discussion, role play and advice from previous ‘big buddies’ willing to share their own experiences.

On December 7, the new ‘big buddies’ received their badges.

They are looking forward to meeting their Grade Eight mentees in the new year.
